Design Options: Drill concepts could be placing rope bridges going up to pillars containing the bust of Beethoven on top. Opening the drill could contain the use of dry ice to give a foggy / misty approach to reflect the music's opening segment. Another idea is to have the piano player wheeled in and out of the floor area on a platform. The keyboard is housed in a mini-grand piano facade. the performer is wearing a wig depicting Beethoven. Costume design could use ruffled front shirts with waiter type tux coats.
1ST MOVEMENT - Begins in the same manner as the traditional piano piece does with synth, piano and mallet parts at a BPM of 82. A mallet run leads us into the first battery break which is at a BPM of 116. After the set up we get into the main theme being played by the ensemble in a 2/4 time signature at a BPM of 106. A ritardando happens at the end of this movement segwaying into the 2nd Movement.
2ND MOVEMENT - The mood lightens as instrumentation softens and secondary themes are introduced back in 4/4 at a BPM of 76. Various time signatures then weave in and out as a mallet run again leads us into a battery break that softens into the next theme section that ends with an accellerando hitting with a big climatic end.
3RD MOVEMENT - Starts with a solo set up by the tympani and reactionary answer from the battery. The tempo has picked up to 130 BPM. The introduction is reintroduced except this time in a triplet feel. The main theme enters one last time in a triplet feel at a BPM of 140. The piece ends in a classic Beethoven style ending with teasing false ending and successive quarter note hits.
